We highlighted the need for blood donations in an article posted last month. With a current shortage and an increasing demand for blood, WIN regularly joins forces with other organisations to arrange blood donation programs.
Unfortunately, people are reluctant to donate blood because of the misconceptions that giving blood may lead to poor health, or may pose a risk for the transmission for HIV or Hep B.
To help inspire more to donate blood, volunteers from no. 4 Maharashtra Naval Unit (a branch of NCC – National Cadets Corp) joined with WIN, and members of Super Speciality Hospital’s Blood Bank to give blood. 30 young men took part and hopefully this will encourage others to follow suit for our next blood giving program.
