United In Adversity

KAMLABAI is a leprosy sufferer, who lost all her fingers through nerve damage, injury and neglect.

She experienced a lot of discrimination within her community but was championed by one woman, single mother Nirmila Manchelwar.

Nirmila’s husband died of TB eight years earlier and unbeknown to her, was HIV positive.

Recently, she too was diagnosed with TB and sadly tested positive for HIV.

Now Nirmila faces the same discrimination within the local community but has the unwavering support of her friend Kamlabai.

Both women not only support one another in their adversity, they have WIN to address their medical and socio-economic needs.
