Blood transfusions are not free and each unit costs £25:00. Women in Need provides blood to women with HIV, Cancer, Sickle cell anaemia or for those who require surgery.
There is a huge demand for blood transfusions in Nagpur and often blood banks struggle to meet that demand. Despite the city’s large population, people are reluctant to donate blood through fear and ignorance.
A blood donation camp was organised recently by Women in Need, Super speciality Hospital and social group Kamgar Kalyan Bhawan.
The event was a great success with 50 donors coming forward to give blood.
This is a cause Women in Need with support on a more regular basis.
